Social + Community Participation
“Our Social & Community Participation support services are about helping you pursue your recreational life goals and building your social skills so you can work towards a healthier lifestyle.”
Butter Fish Services is a registered NDIS provider of Assistance with Social and Community Participation which is in the core support NDIS category. Our disability support services are available in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and throughout the broader Hunter and Central Coast regions of NSW.
The purpose of our Assistance with Social and Community Participation service is to help people with a disability pursue their recreational life goals by taking part in social or recreational activities within their community.
This may include a disability support worker accompanying you to a music concert. It may also support your involvement in group activities that are either centre-based or out in the community such as a book group.
How Butter Fish Services Can Help?
We work closely with you, your family and support network to build your social skills so you can work towards a healthier lifestyle.
We help you to participate in community, social or recreational groups and activities. Recreational and leisure activities may include attending a music concert or going to the movies. Social groups can include book clubs and collectors’ clubs. Personal interest activities may include art, woodwork, beauty and cooking. We may also provide support to you on holidays or during outings.
We support you in engaging with these community, social or recreational activities independently. We can help you to take part individually or in a group depending on what your needs and goals are.
We can show you how you can access community supports. For instance, we can connect you with people who have similar interests or hobbies.
If you want to build a better relationship with your support network we can help you to develop positive behaviours to improve your relationships.
