Born in Australia, with German, Irish and Aboriginal heritage, Cara recently joined the Butter Fish team in Brisbane. After starting her career as an Allied Health Assistant, she worked as an outreach counsellor and a support worker before Behaviour Support.
“What inspires me is our ability to make impactful change in the lives of those who we work with. Our clients are so diverse – from children to the elderly – which means I feel constantly challenged and adaptive to their unique needs. This means every day is different. That’s what’s so exciting. You can build a great relationship and in turn, create a fulfilling and engaging work life. At every step of the way, I’ve been encouraged and supported to follow my interests and shape my career around those passions,” says Cara.

Rheanna, who hails from Newcastle, started her career in youth work and out-of-home care. This inspired her to complete a degree in social work after becoming interested in behavioural issues in children. This led her to join our organisation as a Behavioural Support Therapist. With a career journey focussing on early childhood, Rheanna’s focus is to develop her practice in this area, shaping the outcomes with new ideas and tools.
“I’ve had nothing but encouragement from the very start. This is one of the biggest elements that drew me to Butter Fish. I know if I ask for opportunities and am willing to put in the time and effort, I’ll be able to get to wherever I want to go. I’m also confident that the leadership team will allow me space to find my passions within my career as I learn and develop,” she says.
