Frequently Asked Questions about Positive Behaviour Support

  • What is ABA?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of understanding and improving socially significant behavior. Our Behaviour Specialists will work with each individual and develop a program based on their own individualised needs.

  • What is a Behavioural Therapist

All of our therapists have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in psychological studies and further qualifications in Behaviour Analysis. All therapists are registered with a professional body, this means that our therapists have completed the required amount of training and supervision to provide Behaviour Analysis.
As Behavioural Therapists, it’s our goal to understand behaviour. From our perspective, no behaviour happens without reason, because a child is bold or naturally aggressive. Rather, behaviour is a form of communication, somebody telling us they want something or they want to avoid something. We identify the reason for behaviour and development with evidence based strategies, teaching new skills and making changes to the person’s environment.

  • Do you offer support in schools?

Yes, we offer school support (pending approval of the school). We are regularly contacted by parents and teachers in relation to behaviours that may be interfering with the child’s learning and classroom management. We work collaboratively with school staff to develop a plan of effective strategies to reduce any behaviours of concern and promote learning in the classroom. We also offer school support in the form of professional development for teachers and IEP consultation.

  • How much does it cost?

Just as our services are personalised and based on individual circumstances, so too are the fees. While we endeavour to be as accessible as possible to everyone, funding is the decision of the NDIS and that will adjust the self-funded component if applicable. If you’re unsure about your own funding status, call us today and we can help direct you on how to find out, and what we can do for you within that.

  • What are the wait times?

While we do have a booking system for appointments, our wait times are very reasonable and you won’t experience delays like you may have in the past. We endeavour to be available to people who need us, when they need us. Call us today if you’re unsure of how to get a referral, or book an appointment with us online.

  • When can I get an appointment?

You can get an appointment any time after you receive a referral. You typically can get an appointment within two weeks of getting your referral and getting in contact with us.

  • How much funding do I need?

This all depends on the NDIS funding, and the plan needed for your specific situation. Some patients are fully funded, while others are partially funded or fully self-funded. How much you need will depend on your circumstances. However, we won’t turn anyone away. We will work within your budget and funding limits to provide you the best care possible.

  • Where are you located

    We have clinics across Australia:
    NSW – Newcastle
    QLD – Wavell Heights
    VIC – Bundoora

We offer virtual services across Australia, making our services accessible to all.

  • Do you travel?

Yes. We don’t want location to be a barrier to the personal betterment of the people in a wider community. We are happy to organise appointments at-home, school  or at a care facility.

  • Do you charge for travel?

Yes. We work within a pricing structure, or via the MMM Price Guide for NDIS.
